Wishes Fulfilled by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

Wishes Fulfilled is designed to take you on a voyage of discovery, wherein you can begin to tap into the amazing manifesting powers that you possess within you and create a life in which all that you imagine for yourself becomes a present fact.”  Hay House                    by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

First, I must disclose that I am relatively new to this-way-of-thinking or this train-of-thought, this spiritual path. Because I know how silly it may sound to some well-educated or well seasoned individuals when I say:

I read this book in a day. This was the first of Dr. Dyer’s that I could so easily absorb and I felt hungry and wanted more, so pushed through to the end. Again, please pardon the oh so common phrases but at the end, I felt that my experience was mind-bending and life-altering.

I have heard of similar events, that Dr. Dyer has personally experienced and writes about, but had not given them much credence. I feel that because this is reported by Dr. Dyer – this opens up a whole new world of thought and possibilities – as was intended.

I am deliberately being vague because I don’t want to spoil, for the next readers, what I thought were some amazing stories and events. They’ll have to choose for themselves if they are to be life altering.

The Power of Intention, Learning to Co-create Your World Your Way by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

This book makes a fabulous training manual or workbook for those interested in understanding the concept of the Source and Intention. A person could read through this in a few days, but I would suggest that they schedule some time, possibly 1 chapter per week or month, to actually study and ponder each chapter’s material and exercises. If one is studying this concept with the idea of putting these practices into place, also consider partnering with family and close friends, a sort of study group, to help ensure that those bonds stay strong through a mutual understanding of this journey.

This particular edition of this book, the Gift Edition, is breathtakingly beautiful due to the art work (illustrations by Jui Ishida), the brilliant colors and the soft glossy texture of the paper. This makes the case for “real books” vs “e-books”. There is no way that this sort of sensuous (b : producing or characterized by gratification of the senses – © 2010 Merriam-Webster, Incorporated) experience can be reproduced in digital form. I thank Dr. Dyer and Hay House for this amazing gift, which I consider one of my treasures.

Ch 1: Viewing Intention from a New Perspective

The Power of Intention, Learning to Co-create Your World Your Way by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

I think that for those who are new to Intention, the title of the chapter “Viewing Intention from a New Perspective” should really be Viewing Life from a New Perspective. Dr. Dyer teaches us that we must let go of what we’ve previously been taught about our self perceptions and learn a new way to view ourselves. Through that process we can then begin to understand the power of intention. Dr. Dyer includes instructions and exercises so that even a novice can easily understand these principles.

Part III: The Connection

This review is for “the gift edition” of this book. And, as you can see by the photo of the book cover and from the displays on the links that this is full of beautiful, joyful, art work, which makes it the perfect gift for someone interested in the Power of Intention.

As suggested in the Preface of the book, I read the final chapter, “A Portrait of a Person Connected to the Field of Intention”, first. This chapter helps the reader, whether a novice or seasoned co-creater, to focus on the goal of becoming more in tuned with the Source.

More to come . . .

The Shift by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

“The Shift” is a companion book to a movie by the same name, also by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer.

From the inside jacket: “The Shift . . . illustrates how and why to make the move From Ambition To Meaning. Such a shift eliminates our feelings of separateness, illuminates our spiritual connectedness, and involves moving from the ego-directed morning into the afternoon of life where everything is primarily influenced by purpose.

The Shift doesn’t mean that we lose our drive; it signifies that we become driven about something new. We make a commitment to living a life based on experiencing Meaning and feeling purposeful, rather than never-ending demands and false promises that are the trademark of the ego’s agenda.”
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Generally when I read a new book I breeze through it quickly to get an idea of the subject matter and to develop initial opinions. Then, I’ll take some time to think about what I’ve read and develop my arguments. If I find the material interesting, entertaining or educational I will read the book a second time or many more times until I’m satisfied that I’ve extracted as much from the writings as possible.

I discovered within the first few paragraphs, of the first chapter of “The Shift”, that using this process wasn’t going to work. In the first chapter, Dr. Dyer uses his knowledge of Quantum Physics, Metaphysics and traditional religious philosophy to explain the creation and meaning of life. I am at the infant stage of my understanding of quantum physics and new religions so I struggled a bit with the terms (at times I was reminded of the e.e. cummings mind bending poem, “anyone lived in a pretty how town”) but found the ideas so delicious that I wanted to pause at every paragraph and give in to the temptation to meditate on the meanings he wanted to impart. I also found it very helpful that Dr. Dyer created a sort of dictionary in order to define or standardize certain terms. I’ve found that one hindrance to conversations about these subject matters is the existence of a common language. I hope that this is the beginning of one.

In chapter two, Dr. Dyer describes the current existence (how we’re living our lives) for most of us and how we’ve managed to go astray. I found myself arguing with him, and then sheepishly realizing that what he was reporting was true. There was much in this chapter that I could easily comprehend and understand. In fact, I found myself pumping my fist in the air and shouting, “Yes!” in agreement, a time or two.

In chapters three and four Dr. Dyer explains how to make the shift to Meaning and how to know if you are on the right path. He also offers more definitions, which is helpful in understanding the material and for relating the information to others. The last two chapters are very interesting, exciting and thought provoking.

One of the many things that I appreciate about Dr. Dyer, is that he lets his audience know what resources he’s used in preparing his material. This is helpful for me so that I can explore that knowledge base as well.
